“Zero mechanical backlash” refers to the absence of measurable angular or axial play under static torque up to the rated limit of the coupling. For rigid shaft couplings, this is achieved through a split-clamp design that applies uniform radial force. For helical gears, backlash is minimized to less than 0.05 mm at the pitch line under peak torque conditions. These values are verified using a laser interferometer at our facility.
Our ASME B16.5 Class 300 flanges are designed for service temperatures up to 540 °C in accordance with ASME B16.5 material group 1.1. For continuous operation above 540 °C, we recommend our Class 600 series with alloy steel grade F22 or F91. Each flange is stamped with the material grade and pressure-temperature rating per the applicable code.
